6/28/08 -- MEC ladies take a commanding 6-0 lead over powerful LVJ after 2-1/2 innings of play. Unfortunately the game was suspended due to bad weather and will be resumed where it left off on Sunday 6/29 at 2pm. Consistent defense, good pitching, aggressive baserunning, and timely hits & bunts have made the difference in this game thus far. What will happen next -- come to the game and watch the finale!
6/29/08 -- MEC 7 LVJ 3 -- after nearly four hours of rain delays and a valiant effort, the MEC ladies hold on to their lead and ended the game in with a 7-3 victory over a worthy LVJ team. Both teams are to be commended for their patience and perseverance in order to finish this game under such adverse conditions -- a very difficult task. Cochranton ace Natalie Brock notches a pitching victory for MEC. A special thanks to all the parents and coaches whose hard work into getting the fields playable, and to our loyal parents for their willingness to support us.
(If Jeff was there, this is the victory dance he would have done!)
7/1/08 -- MEC 7 Meadville-Vernon 5 -- MidEast-Cochranton breaks out ahead in the first inning and never looked back -- sports fans, if you missed this one you missed a great game! Flamethrower Josie Balwin went the distance in the circle, especially helping her own cause by extinguishing a very strong Meadville-Vernon team's hopes when she snagged a line-drive comebacker to the mound that may have tied up the game during the final inning. Despite many comeback attempts by a feisty Meadville-Vernon team -- once again -- near flawless defense, some good toss-outs by catcher Kendell Dickson, good infield "housekeeping" by the "human vacuum squad", and some hitting contributions by nearly everyone on the team, pretty much snuffed out any hopes that Meadville-Vernon might have had to tie the game. Great efforts by the fleet-footed outfield "cleanup crew" held almost every hit to a mere single. This victory was a total team effort once again despite everything the opposing team could throw at these young ladies. Click here for the downloadable news clip (.pdf) from the Meadville Tribune. Will the next game bring the final victory? You won't want to miss the next game !!
