| 2nd ANNUAL FRANKLIN MEMORIAL TOURNEY
7/31/09 - 8/2/09
Below were the results for our team
sponsored by STITCH'N TO GO EMBROIDERY & PAUL G. BELL BUILDER
GAME RESULTS:
SATURDAY 8/1
Game 1 (8:00 am -- Tennis Court Field, Miller Sibley Complex) --
vs.
Fox Township (Kersey, PA) --
After a slow start for both teams, a very strong performing Fox Twp. Dirt Devils team finally capitalized on several key hits to produce a single run in the 3rd inning. The Dirt Devils added on 3 mores runs in the 4th inning to take a 4-0 lead. Bat Attitude bats were unusually silenced by solid pitching until about the sixth inning, when it exploded with 4 runs on a single by Savannah Deeter and a key bases loaded double by Katy Dunn to tie the game at 4-4 going into the bottom of the 6th inning. Despite a stellar dual pitching performance by starter Natalie Brock & reliever Brittany Jackson, allowing only 5 hits, 5 walks while striking out six, the Dirt Devils were able to push across the winning run to win with one out in the bottom of the sixth inning. They would go on to be undefeated in the tourney. This was a tough game to lose, but Bat Attitude spirits were good as they know they made an outstanding comeback effort, and also avoided becoming the first Bat Attitude team in it's history to be shut out in a tourney game.
Game 2 (2:00 pm) -- Tennis Court Field, Miller Sibley Complex) --
vs. Tri-Boro (Cambridge Springs)
--
Bat Attitude weapons of mass destruction opened up on the Tri-Boro Chameleons early, jumping to a 3-run lead in the first inning, then adding two more in the 2nd and seven more in the 4th inning. Key hits by Brittany Jackson, Abby Clulow, Katy Dunn, and Brooke Wolfgong sparked the offense, while Bat Attitude pitching ace, Natalie Brock, set a new team record by thowing not only a no-hitter, but also a perfect game, thanks to a solid team defensive effort as well. Or...perhaps it was the new "special sports glasses" that helped make the difference -- we may never fully know! Congratulations !!
Game 3 (4:30 pm) -- Men's Field, Miller Sibley Complex) -- vs. Tri-City thunder "B" --
Bat Attitude again jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the first inning, followed by nine runs in the 2nd, one more in the 3rd, and two more in the 4th inning. Nearly every Bat Attitude teammate delivered at least one hit during the game, and "Slamin" Sami Kinter was credited officially with a triple but scored on her hit due to an error on the play. Bat Attitude ace Brittany Jackson received the win allowing only two hits, and 1 walk, while stiking out three. Relievers Jaricka Simmerman and Laurel "Tater Tot" Smith also pitched one inning each; Jaricka made 3 assists for each of her three outs, and Laurel, after giving up an unearned run due to two unusual Bat Attitide errors and a walk, struck out the next three batters to finish the game. Well done ladies !!
